Organized in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of New York City’s landmark law, the City Museum’s exhibition Saving Place: 50 Years of New York City Landmarks will launch with “Redefining Preservation for the 21st Century,” a multi-disciplinary symposium exploring the challenges and the opportunities of the preservation movement today and in the future. Join Vishaan Chakrabarti, AIA, Principal, SHoP Architects & Director of CURE, Columbia University; Roberta Brandes Gratz, Urban Critic and Journalist; Michael Kimmelman, New York Times Architecture Critic; Steven Spinola, President, Real Estate Board of New York; Robert A. M. Stern, FAIA, Founder Robert A.M. Stern Architects & Dean, School of Architecture, Yale University; and moderator Adele Chatfield-Taylor (moderator), former President and CEO of the American Academy in Rome, as they examine how preservation shapes and strengthens our neighborhoods and our city as a whole. Symposium tickets are $20 Museum Members, $25 Students/Seniors, and $35 General Public. Price includes admission to the opening reception afterwards for Saving Place.
