Passage Opening Reception
October 17, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Please be sure to check at the official Morris Jumel Mansion site for updates and to confirm this event.
Among the loveliest of Morris-Jumel’s furnishing are its wallpapers, which decorate six of the Mansion’s eight period rooms, as well as the front hall. To artist Talia Greene, MJM’s wallpapers gave not only aesthetic delight, but also the inspiration to create Passage. An amalgam of prints, paper and cutouts, Passage incorporates motifs found on MJM wallpaper (for instance, the birds that appear on the walls of the Octagon Room, and the ivy decorating Aaron Burr’s bedchamber) to tell the story of Manhattan’s gradual urbanization. Join us Saturday, October 17 for the opening reception. Drinks and light fare will be served. Free with museum admission.
