    Sunday May 20 from 12:00 – 6:00 pm

Painter Eduardo Anievas will have a two-day open studio event on Saturday May 19, from 12-8pm and Sunday, May 20th from 12-6pm, in collaboration with the LIC Arts Open Festival’s Fall Open Studios.

Anievas will display fifty paintings including the debut of a palette knife series of NYC cityscapes. Anievas Studio is a street level studio and gallery located off Vernon Blvd, just two blocks from the 7 train station at Vernon-Jackson in the heart of Long Island City, at 10-15 48th Avenue between Vernon Blvd and 11th Street.

Eduardo has been hosting open studio events in LIC regularly for the last 7 years and in his familiar Spanish style of hosting, guests are greeted with sangria and tapas on the house, occasional live music and visitors are welcomed to get to know Eduardo and each other.

His paintings range in style from realism to abstraction and approach many varied subjects including nudes, cityscapes, pedestrians, portraits, and still lives. Eduardo enjoys using negative space and geometry to explore the interplay between figure and background.  A selection of his paintings can be seen on his website, www.eduardoanievas.com

Eduardo Anievas is originally from Santander, a city in Northern Spain. At age 23 he moved to Germany and began his career as a full time artist, painting primarily portraits and still lives.  He later moved to Portugal and then to New York City, where he has spent the last 18 years. Eduardo has displayed his works at venues including commercial and nonprofit galleries in Europe (Spain, Germany, Portugal, Bulgaria) and the US, restaurants, cafes, on the streets of Manhattan, and in his Open Studio Series.

The LIC Arts Open Festival is a celebration of the extensive artistic community in Long Island City, Queens. The Festival began in 2011 and features artists’ open studios as well as events and group shows. Attendees to the Fall Open Studios will have the opportunity to meet painters, sculptors, ceramicists and more.
