Orlande de Lassus is regarded as the chief representative of the mature polyphonic style of the Franco-Flemish school, and was one of the three most famous and influential musicians in Europe at the end of the 16th century, along with Palestrina and Victoria. The concert will feature a mass for Easter Day including his Missa Congratulamini mihi and the propers (Resurrexi, Haec dies, Alleluia. Pascha nostrum, Victimae paschali, and Pascha nostrum). In addition, the program will include several motets for the Easter season – Surrexit pastor bonus, Christus resurgens, Surgens Jesus and Regina caeli.
