The Oratorio Society of Queens performs portions of Handel’s “Messiah,” as well as traditional Christmas favorites and Chanukah songs on Sunday, December 20 at 4:00 pm in the Queensborough Performing Arts Center (QPAC), Bayside, New York.

As a hallmark of the vibrant arts community in Queens, OSQ will perform with its 125-plus member chorus under the direction of Maestro David Close with featured soloists Geraldine McMillian, soprano, John Easterlin, tenor, Vaughn Fritts, bass-baritone, guest artist Cantor Jerry Korobow and with OSQ’s orchestra, the Orchestral Arts Ensemble of Queens.

After performing excerpts of Handel’s iconic “Messiah,” the 2nd half of the program highlights “Gloria” by Randol Bass, a triumphant piece that echoes the rejoicing and goodwill of the season. The program also features Maestro Close’s stirring arrangement of “Ma’oz Tsur.” Cantor Jerry Korobow leads us with his guitar and the entire chorus and orchestra in the lively and spirited “Nun Gimel/ Chanukah, O Chanukah.”

Come sing along with the entire chorus and audience in the traditional carol “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” Thrill to the incomparable “O Holy Night,” and Pietro Yon’s timeless “Gesù Bambino,” said to have been written while he was riding a NYC subway! A performance of “Won’t You Come A-Christmasing” with soloist, John Easterlin, will undoubtedly be a magical and unforgettable experience!

Queensborough Performing Arts Center is located in Queensborough Community College at 222-05 56th Avenue, Bayside, NY – on 56th Avenue one block east of Springfield Boulevard in Bayside. Parking is free on the main lot next to the theater, which offers easy-access entry.
