Oratorio Society of Queens Sings “Messiah” at Holiday Concert

Maestro David Close Leads Chorus & Orchestra in Concert of Holiday Favorites
The Oratorio Society of Queens performs selections from Handel’s “Messiah,” as well as traditional Christmas favorites and Chanukah songs on Sunday, December 18, 2016 at 4:00 pm in the Queensborough Performing Arts Center (QPAC), Bayside, New York.
As a hallmark of the vibrant arts community in Queens, OSQ will perform with its 125-plus member chorus under the direction of Maestro David Close with featured soloists Geraldine McMillian, soprano, John Easterlin, tenor, Vaughn Fritts, bass-baritone, guest artist Cantor Jerry Korobow and with OSQ’s orchestra, the Orchestral Arts Ensemble of Queens.
The first half of the program is selections from Handel’s “Messiah.” The second half of the program features the utterly moving “Angels Carol” with soloist, Geraldine McMillian. Cantor Jerry Korobow leads us with his guitar and the entire chorus and orchestra, with audience participation, in the lively and spirited “Ocho Kandelikas”.
Rejoice with the entire chorus and audience in the traditional carol “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.” Thrill to the incomparable “O Holy Night.” A performance of “Won’t You Come A-Christmasing” with soloist, John Easterlin, will undoubtedly be a magical and unforgettable experience!
Queensborough Performing Arts Center is located in Queensborough Community College at 222-05 56th Avenue, Bayside, NY – on 56th Avenue one block east of Springfield Boulevard in Bayside. Parking is free on the main lot next to the theater, which offers easy-access entry.
Tickets are $35; $30 for seniors (62+) and students with ID; $10 for children (12 and under) accompanied by an adult.
