The Oratorio Society of Queens (OSQ) performs W.A. Mozart’s Requiem, Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria and
Vivaldi’s Concerto No. 1, Spring from “The Four Seasons” on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs R. C. Church, Forest Hills, New York.
As a hallmark of the vibrant arts community in Queens, OSQ will perform with its 125-plus member chorus under the direction of Maestro David Close featuring soloists and OSQ’s orchestra, the Orchestral Arts Ensemble of Queens.
Did Mozart write the Requiem in anticipation of his own demise? Or was that just a 19th century legend? Who knows for sure? Come and hear this most beloved of choral works by one of history’s greatest musical geniuses and see if you can answer the question yourself with some help from the Oratorio Society of Queens!
A masterpiece of the Italian Baroque, Vivaldi’s Gloria remained little known until its revival by Alfredo Casella during “Vivaldi Week” in 1939 and has become a favorite with choruses and audiences worldwide. It is a sparkling and joyful work that will have you almost dancing!
