A special “jazz revelation” service on New Year’s Eve will ring in the new year at Marble Collegiate Church in midtown Manhattan. The festive service will offer an opportunity to reflect on faith, as we embark upon a new year, with the help of a spectacular group of acclaimed musicians:
- Nicole Zuraitis, vocalist, whom Jazz Inside magazine praises for her “remarkable range… you can’t help but stop and take notice”;
- Jordan Pettay, saxophone, who has collaborated with such premier jazz artists as Herbie Hancock, Christian McBride, and Terence Blanchard;
- Benje Daneman, trumpet, who has performed at The Kennedy Center, Baryshnikov Arts Center, and The Iridium, among other major venues;
- James Shipp, vibes, who has played at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Birdland, Joe’s Pub, The Blue Note, and The Jazz Standard, among other top venues;
- Chris Whittaker, piano, who has been commissioned to compose works for the Peabody Institute and several symphony orchestras;
- Joshua Davis, bass, who has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Blue Note Jakarta, Bimhuis Amsterdam, and Opera Marseille;
- Clarence Penn, drums, who has played with such legendary artists as Ellis and Wynton Marsalis and has recorded several hundred studio albums.
