We dream of being accepted and loved wherever we go. But what kind of love are we looking for? Someone to talk to, someone to value our intelligence, someone to look at us with desire, someone we can take care of, or all of the above? We crave long-lasting affection all the time, but in our pursuits we stumble again and again without knowing the deeper causes of why things don’t work as we wish.
In the 2nd century CE, the classical author Nagarjuna had a deep understanding of the workings of the world, and expressed them in his timeless work Wisdom, still studied today. We can use his unique understandings in many ways, even to find love.
Geshe Michael Roach’s presentation, based on this ancient book, shows us how to create a world where we can give and receive more affection with everyone. Ultimately, love serves a purpose beyond our own close relationships. It can spread compassion and understanding to the people we meet, and reach out to our entire world.

Geshe Michael Roach is the first American to have been awarded the degree of geshe, which represents the completion of approximately 20 years of philosophical studies in a Buddhist monastery. He is a prominent international speaker, businessman, author, educator, textual scholar, and translator. He graduated with honors from Princeton University and received the Presidential Scholar Award for academic achievement. He is the founder of Asian Classics Input Project, Asian Classics Institute, Three Jewels Community Centers, Diamond Cutter Institute, and the Sedona College of International Management.
