Public Performances, Exhibition And Screening Schedule

The National YoungArts Foundation’s 2014 YoungArts New York program will take place March 31 to April 7, 2014 and will offer New York’s brightest young artists life-changing experiences and scholarship opportunities. During the week long intensive, 102 emerging artists will participate in interdisciplinary workshops and master classes renowned Tony Award-winner, dancer, choreographer and YoungArts Artistic Advisor, Bill T. Jones; award winning architect and designer of the World Trade Center Memorial, Michael Arad; distinguished writer, Adina Hoffman; photographer and videographer, Naomi Fisher; and violinist and composer, Daniel Bernard Roumain. These world renowned artists will mentor the YoungArts Winners and offer them support and encouragement to pursue their passions and a career in the arts.
YoungArts New York will feature three multidisciplinary performances at the Baryshnikov Arts Center (BAC), including one program curated by Mikhail Baryshnikov (BAC Artistic Director) and Pedja Muzijevic (BAC Artistic Administrator), and two programs directed by Jay Schieb; and a visual arts exhibition at MoMA PS1, all open to the public. YoungArts New York will kick off with a celebratory fundraising event at the Henri Bendel Fifth Avenue flagship featuring a performance by YoungArts alumna, singer songwriter, Kate Davis on Tuesday, April 1 at 5:30pm. Henri Bendel will donate 10% of the event proceeds to YoungArts. The week will culminate with a public (RSVP required) screening of the HBO Family documentary special Anna Deavere Smith: A YoungArts MasterClass with acclaimed actress and playwright, Anna Deavere Smith at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium on Monday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. The April 7 event will also include and cocktail reception and discussion with Smith, YoungArts Alumni and the filmmakers.
