Come paint, build, craft, or collage – use familiar materials, or experiment with new! Inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and local artists, MOCACREATE explores different themes every month. Free with Museum admission!
For January, the theme is Mix! Paste! Sculpt! Repeat! Golden Venture passengers came to America in search of freedom—a simple word that means many things. When they were first detained, and still unsure of their futures, they created “freedom birds” out of any materials they could find. Using paper, glue, and flour, construct a paper mache animal that you feel stands for freedom, equality, unity, or friendship.
Event Cost: Event is free with museum admission. Regular admission is $10; admission for seniors, students, and children 2 and up is $5.
