Join the Cathedral for the New York Philharmonic’s Annual Free Memorial Day Concert!

“”This year’s performance will be dedicated to the people of Ukraine. In the spirit of uniting and sending aid, the NY Phil and The Cathedral are partnering with the International Rescue Committee (IRC). At the beginning of the concert, an IRC representative will provide information about how to contribute to response efforts in Ukraine and other crisis-affected countries.

The concert, conducted by New York Philharmonic Music Director Jaap van Zweden, opens with Walker’s Lyric for Strings, in response to the strife in Ukraine. The program also includes Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun and La Mer, and Wagner’s Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde.

Introduced in 1992, the annual Memorial Day Concert is offered as a gift to the people of New York City and has become both a day of musical remembrance and the traditional start of the Philharmonic’s summer activities. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the performance; ticket distribution will begin at 5:00 p.m. The audio of the performance will be broadcast onto the adjacent Pulpit Green, weather permitting. The program will be presented without intermission.

Please note, the Cathedral requires proof of vaccination to attend liturgical, non-liturgical, and ticketed events. All attendees and/or ticketholders must be fully vaccinated (received the final dose at least 14 days before the performance date). At check-in, ticketholders will be required to show proof of full vaccination (the NYS Excelsior Pass or a hard copy or photo of the vaccination card and a valid ID).””
