The Guggenheim Helsinki Design Competition is the first open, international architectural competition to be organized by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation. Inaugurated in June 2014, it generated 1,715 submissions from 77 countries, a record for a museum competition. In December 2014, the Guggenheim announced a shortlist of six designs to be developed as finalists selected by an 11-member international jury, and in June 2015, announced Moreau Kusunoki Architectes as the winning team.
