Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals Hosts “Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days” at
Petco Union Square and Locations Across the Five Boroughs
Thousands of dogs and cats will be looking for their forever homes at New York City’s biggest free pet adoption event ever. The Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals will host “Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days” on May 31 and June 1across the five boroughs, and will present a special mega-adoption event on Saturday and Sunday outside of Petco Union Square in Manhattan. More than 90 area rescue groups and shelters will participate in the two-day event, which is expected to result in 3,500 adoptions.
Homeless dogs and cats — young and old, large and small, mixed- and pure-breed, frisky and couch potatoes — will be available for adoption. All have been spayed or neutered, and vaccinated. Adoptions will be free to qualified adopters, thanks to generous funding from the California-based Maddie’s Fund® (www.maddiesfund.org), a family foundation established in 1999 to help achieve and sustain a no-kill nation.
