Math Encounters: String Theory and the Mathematics of Hyperspace

While string theory remains an untested proposal for Einstein’s dream of a unified theory, over the years it has made numerous mathematical contributions. Join Brian Greene, Professor of Physics and Mathematics, Columbia University, as he focuses on the theory’s insights into particular higher dimensional shapes, and describes how string theory offers powerful modifications to various classical concepts in geometry. Brian will be introduced by Tracy Day, Co-founder and CEO of the World Science Festival.
The presentation is geared toward a general audience and would best be enjoyed by participants age 12 and up.
The presentation will be held at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m.
