Math Encounters: Lewis Carroll in Numberland with Robin Wilson
Wednesday, October 7, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.
At the NATIONAL MUSEUM OF MATHEMATICS
If Charles Dodgson (aka Lewis Carroll) hadn’t written the Alice books, he would probably be remembered as a pioneer Victorian photographer. But if he had not been remembered for this, would he be remembered as a mathematics teacher at Oxford University? What mathematics did he do? And how good was he? Join UK mathematician Robin Wilson as he takes us on an illustrated journey through the looking glass, exploring math, puzzles, logic… and even monkeys! Refreshments follow the afternoon presentation of Math Encounters; arrive by 6:30 p.m. for refreshments preceding the evening presentation. Free admission; registration required.
