Visitors and commuters can take a break from the heat when Grand Central Terminal presents its first “Life’s A Picnic in Grand Central” event featuring a free indoor, public picnic space in a completely reimagined Vanderbilt Hall.

With Astroturf floor, picnic tables bedecked with classic gingham tablecloths, and live entertainment, visitors can relax in air-conditioned comfort with free Wi-Fi and food of their own or purchased from Grand Central retailers with outposts in the Hall that week. Participating retailers will include Junior’s Restaurant, Magnolia Bakery, Murray’s Cheese, Tri Tip Grill, Two Boots Pizza and more.

The event features live entertainment every day during lunch and evening hours, including “Broadway Hour” performances from hit musicals “Chicago,” “Motown,” “Pippin” and “Cinderella.” Additional dance and musical performances will feature cast members of “iLuminate,” “Revolution In the Elbow of Ragnar Agnarsson Furniture Painter,” Big Apple Circus and musicians from the MTA’s “Music Under New York” program.
