Join us for a stirring late night event that will celebrate the purity, strength and power of the keyboard throughout history. From the harpsichord to the toy piano, you will hear music from Bach to Beethoven’s “Moonlight” Sonata, Mendelssohn to Eric Satie, and Classical to Jazz. The evening will include an original 2016 Chelsea Music Festival commission for five keyboards entitled “Partita” by composer Nicolas Namoradze, featuring each instrument in its own miniature concerto, and will conclude with the grandest of not only all keyboards, but what Mozart called the “King of all Instruments” – the organ, with star-organist Stephen Tharp at the helm, performing Bach’s iconic Toccata and Fugue, BWV 565. The evening’s line-up includes harpsichordist Jeffrey Grossman, toy pianist Robert Fleitz and pianists Adam Birnbaum, Helen Huang, Melinda Lee Masur and Amy Yang.
