DCINY kicks off the Christmas season with the gift of new holiday music by popular composer-conductor Pepper Choplin. Based in North Carolina, Choplin’s a true force in modern church music, having published more than 250 anthems for choirs and 16 cantatas, in an amalgam of styles, ranging from folk and gospel to classical and jazz. Now he’s back in the Big Apple to lead the Distinguished Concerts Orchestra and Distinguished Concerts Singers International, including choirs from his home state, in the New York premiere of his latest, Go Sing It on the Mountain. This performance marks Choplin’s third appearance with DCINY, and his second at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, where he conducted his cantata, Our Father, in 2015.
