New York, NY (April 1, 2019) –For the fourth time in partnership with Grand Bazaar USA, the NY Handmade Collective (NYHC) – formerly known as the Etsy NY Street Team – will present “The NY Handmade Collective Pop-Up Spring 2019″.  This dynamic handcrafted product showcase, which will feature a juried selection of the NYHC’s local talent, will take place on Sunday, May 12, from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm, at the popular shopping destination located at 100 West 77 Street and Columbus Avenue.

“Grand Bazaar NYC firmly believes in supporting local artists, designers and craft-makers, which helps keep our city vibrant and creative,” said Marc Seago, Executive Director at Grand Bazaar NYC. “We’re thrilled that the NY Handmade Collective will once again be joining us for this exciting Spring shopping experience.”

Shoppers are sure to find a diverse selection of outstanding, one-of-a-kind, exclusively handcrafted merchandise from over 40 talented, multi-disciplined artisans and designers from the New York metropolitan area.  The vast array of exceptional goods will run the gamut from fine art, stationery, unusual jewelry, distinctive fashions, home decor and amazing skincare products to items for children and pets.

“This year’s new and improved market is a rare opportunity to go behind-the-scenes, interact with and shop directly from our cadre of diverse, talented local artisans who’ll be offering special discounts and customization options on their unique products which aren’t even available online,” said Andi B. O’Connor, co-organizer.  “Situated within the long-established Upper West Side market that is the Grand Bazaar NYC, the NYHC Show will highlight the value of quality handmade crafts in today’s society when so much is mass-produced and disposable.”

    The Importance of Handmade

Last year NYHC surveyed over 200 artisans to gather impressions and data on the importance of quality handmade products. At this year’s show, NYHC will have a table with information and materials on this subject, staffed by members who can answer visitors’ questions.  For example, creators of handcrafted goods are part of a community dedicated to connecting with customers and bringing back the personal touch that is so rare in today’s digital global marketplace.

Other survey findings:  Handmade products tend to be of higher quality, singular and authentic, that reflect rich cultures and traditions and an eco-friendly, sustainable, environmental awareness that is present in these artisans’ practices and processes.  Handcrafted items also nurture creativity and individuality and perpetuate the art of crafting.  In addition, handmade products are beautiful, one-of-a-kind and well-made.  As a result, they tend to be more valuable and durable than mass-produced, disposable items.
