Fifty years after giving his founding address, Felix Adler reflected upon that day: “. . .the people [interested in starting an Ethical movement] asked with intense feeling, what consecrating influence shall we bring into our own lives, and particularly into the lives of our children? – indeed it was a concern for the children even more than for themselves that led to the formation of these societies.”

Today we reflect upon the history of people who intentionally centered their lives around the study and practice of ethics, who built a community that placed “Deed Above Creed,” and who continue to inspire us. We also commit ourselves to future generations by promoting a reverence for life and finding relevance for ethical values. We will be joined by members of other Ethical Societies in a morning of music, words and movement.
