The Cathedral of St. John the Divine presents the Focus on Food Family Fest, the final event for the multimedia exhibition The Value of Food: Sustaining a Green Planet on Saturday, April 2nd, at 1:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th Street), Manhattan.
This family-friendly afternoon continues a discussion of the exhibition’s themes—soil, seed, water, farm, market, meal, and waste—which have been explored through a series of regular public programs since the exhibition’s opening last fall. Throughout the day, children and their families will have the opportunity to create colorful food packaging collages, weave “plarn” (recycled plastic yarn) creations, spread the word on food issues by designing activist postcards, and explore the exhibit one last time using a Food Findings scavenger hunt.
The Value of Food: Sustaining a Green Planet, guest curated by Kirby Gookin and Robin Kahn, features pieces by more than 30 renowned artists, including Tom Otterness, Tattfoo Tan, Christy Rupp, Christian Jankowski, Claire Pentecost and others, and is installed throughout the Cathedral’s bays, chapels, and gardens. The exhibition will be on view until April 3, 2016.
This event is open to the public. Your contributions to the Cathedral are always appreciated. Guests are asked to RSVP for this event at http://bit.ly/FoFFFest.
