Queens’ newest orchestra, the Queensboro Symphony Orchestra will perform their debut concert on Sunday, March 22nd at 7pm in the exquisite setting of Mary’s Nativity Church in Flushing. Led by acclaimed maestro Dong-hyun Kim, classics to be performed are Beethoven’s 5th Symphony, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto and works by Paul Joseph. To celebrate this special opening evening, admission will be free-will offering.

About Queensboro Symphony Orchestra:
Because of his determination, great talent and an immeasurable passion for music, the young Korean born conductor Dong-Hyun Kim founded Flushing, NY’s Queensboro Symphony Orchestra and is currently their Music Director and Conductor. This is the third time he has accomplished the near impossible task of successfully forming, sustaining and leading a full symphonic orchestra, as he had previously done with the Queens Philharmonia who had their music featured on WNYC classical radio and performed in one of the world’s finest acoustical halls for four years in the previous decade, and with New York’s Nova Philharmonic who presented innovative programs such as Mozart Meets Jazz. Maestro Kim’s past Music Directorships also include the Bethel Chamber Orchestra and the Aaron Copland School of Music Chamber Orchestra, and he served as assistant conductor of the New York Symphony. He has also been featured as guest conductor with the Korea University Orchestra, the Astoria Symphony Orchestra and the Kaliope Opera Company. Maestro Kim received his M.A. in Conducting from the Aaron Copland School of Music, where he graduated with High Distinction honors and where he also served as assistant orchestra conductor. Other notable achievements include conducting the Ruth Laredo Memorial Concert and organizing and presenting the Japan Disaster Relief Concert.
