Led by his mentor Wynton Marsalis, bassist Carlos Henríquez has laid down propulsive grooves for ensembles that include the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Henríquez pays tribute to his South Bronx roots with The Bronx Pyramid Sextet, which plays a sizzling blend of modern jazz and funky Latin rhythms. With a band that features the hottest players on the Latin jazz scene, Henríquez showcases why his “woody, rich sound” (JazzTimes) has made him a favorite of such legends as Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, and Celia Cruz.
