    Program: GENIUS OF ENGLAND – Henry Purcell & Contemporaries
    Location: First Church of Christ, Scientist, Central Park West at 68th St., NYC

    EARLY MUSIC NEW YORK [EM/NY] Chamber Orchestra performs 17th-century works ofHenry Purcell and his contemporaries, John Blow and Matthew Locke, from England’s Restoration period under Charles II.  Included on the program are suites from The Fairy Queen (semi-opera by Purcell), Venus and Adonis (a masque by Blow) and The Tempest (incidental music by Locke). Joining the ensemble of strings and recorders will be soprano, Elaine Lachica, to add dramatic flair to the program. The historic venue, an acoustically superb Beaux-Arts style auditorium within First Church of Christ, Scientist on Central Park West at 68th Street is conveniently located in the heart of the Lincoln Square neighborhood.
