The Cathedral of St. John the Divine will ring in 2015 with a celebration of light and song through the 30th annual New Year’s Eve Concert for Peace on Wednesday, December 31, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th Street), Manhattan.

This year’s concert will feature works of classic beauty, hailed at the time of their writing as cutting-edge musical compositions. The Cathedral Choir and Orchestra, under the direction of Kent Tritle, will perform selections from Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem, Bach’s “Dona nobis pacem” from Mass in B minor, Handel’s Founding Hospital Anthem and the traditional This Little Light of Mine. Renowned soloists Jamet Pittman, soprano, and Gregory Purnhagen, baritone, will also be performing.  The light of thousands of candles held by audience members culminates the musical celebration. Guest artists Judy Collins and Jason Robert Brown will lend their inimitable voices to the night’s event, which will be hosted by NBC Correspondent Harry Smith.

This concert is one of the many performances comprising the 2014/15 season of Great Music in a Great Space. The annual New Year’s Eve Concert for Peace was founded by Leonard Bernstein in 1984, and has become one of the Cathedral’s most celebrated events.

A limited number of general admission seats are free and open to the public, on a first-come, first-served basis. Ticketed seating is also available, at $30 (general admission), $100 (preferred seating), and $150 (premium seating).
