The Parish of Calvary-St. George’s in Manhattan
A quintessential Christmas tradition for over one hundred years, this celebration holds a special place in the hearts of thousands of New Yorkers.
- Snap into the holiday spirit with hundreds of fellow New Yorkers lighting candles and basking in their breathtaking glow within the sanctuary of the historic St. George’s Church on Stuyvesant Square (7 Rutherford Pl., New York, NY 10003).
- Belt out your favorite carols, hear incredible sounds of brass and our new carillon chimes, and enjoy glorious serenades led by our longstanding parish choir and orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Kamel Boutros, music director of Calvary-St. George’s.
- Experience world-premiere music commissioned just for Candlelight, featuring CALSTG Academy Singers performing a new arrangement of “One Small Child.”
- Hear powerful readings that reveal the true meaning of Christmas.
“Candlelight is one of those New York City traditions that, like The Rockettes, can trigger a genuine feeling of nostalgia,” the Parish’s Rector The Reverend Jacob Andrew Smith said. “There is nothing like singing ‘Silent Night’ with a thousand people to get you in the Christmas spirit.”
‘Tis the season to spread love, hope, and festive fun so let’s experience this New York City tradition in all its glory together this Christmas.
