THE BRONX TROLLEY – READINGS & CONVERSATIONS

Wednesday, May 7, 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm

Hop off The Bronx Trolley at The Bronx Museum and hear Raquel Cepeda discuss her book Bird of Paradise: How I Became Latina. Equal parts memoir about Cepeda’s coming of age in New York City and Santo Domingo, and detective story chronicling her year-long journey to discover the truth about her ancestry, the book also looks at what it means to be Latina today. The paperback is out now wherever books are sold. Visit Raquel Cepeda’s website at http://www.djalirancher.com.

“I hope that Raquel Cepeda’s experience searching for her roots will encourage more Latinos to look at themselves with the same honesty and fierceness.” — Esmeralda Santiago, author of When I Was Puerto Rican and other books.
