    Lecture on Roosevelt Island

(Roosevelt Island, NY, October 24, 2017) – Get a close-up look at a hidden corner of nearby Long Island City in the film Blissville. Documentary-maker Hank Linhart captured the businesses in the area, including a sushi factory, an Afghan bakery and a company that manufactures replicas of the Statue of Liberty. He also filmed the lives of residents and a community of Romani or gypsies. The one-hour film is based on research that began in 1989, was suspended in 1996, resumed in 2012, and completed in 2017, is followed by a discussion and is organized by the Roosevelt Island Historical Society at the New York Public Library Branch on Roosevelt Island, on Thursday, November 9, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.

The event is FREE and open to the public. It is the second in the Society’s annual series of fall lectures.
