Using the works of early and mid-19th century authors that Madame Jumel may have read we will use black out techniques to create a new work of art and poetry. Black out poetry involves selecting words from a printed page of a book to create a new poem, all the other words on the page are blacked out. The methods and designs of the black out process can range from simple to ornate. Recommended for children ages 6 and above, and led by local artist Trish Mayo, the workshop will teach participants how to create a black out design around words chosen as their poem. Participants will create a work of art to take home with them. Free with museum admission. Advanced registration is recommended.
