Join urban historian Barry Feldman to learn about the massive wave of Jewish migration to New York City.

What prompted the Jewish immigrants’ journey? How did they negotiate language acquisition, employment, family dislocation and discrimination? What factors led to their dispersal to Harlem, Brownsville, the Bronx and other places throughout the city? The final session is a Lower East Side walking tour that will explore buildings important to Jewish, Hispanic, Italian, Asian and German immigrant groups of the neighborhood.

$10 per class; $35 for all four sessions
