    Enlightenment and Beauty

    Sculptures by Houdon and Clodion

    Through April 5, 2015

Beginning April 2, the Frick’s collection of sculptures by Jean-Antoine Houdon and Claude Michel, called Clodion, will be displayed for the first time as a group in the Portico Gallery. Centering on Houdon’s lifelike marble portrait busts and Clodion’s small-scale terracotta statuettes, the exhibition highlights the artists’ creative responses to the classical tradition and their defining contributions to the art of Enlightenment-era France. Together with loans from private collections, the ensemble illustrates the exquisite beauty and technical perfection of the work of both masters. Learn More
