(New York, NY) The Museum of the City of New York will celebrate the holiday exhibition New York on Ice: Skating in the City, with FREE hot chocolate from Amy’s Bread from Tuesday, December 26th through Sunday, December 31st. The free hot chocolate will be available for the first 100 visitors each day.
The exhibition, New York on Ice, which opens at the Museum on Wednesday, December 20, traces the history of one of the city’s favorite pastimes from the 1800s through the present, and is scheduled to open to coincide with the holidays.
“For many New Yorkers and visitors from around the world, nothing says winter in the city like a trip to an ice skating rink and a cup of hot chocolate,” explained Whitney Donhauser, Ronay Menschel Director of the Museum. “We usually offer free ice cream during the holidays, but this year we wanted our winter promotion to celebrate our highly anticipated exhibition New York on Ice. Plus, now that we have Amy’s Bread at our café, an offer of Amy’s specially crafted hot chocolate seems too good to pass up. We hope our visitors will join us here at the top of Museum Mile to take advantage!”
The Museum will also be offering a fun slate of winter holiday family programs like snow globe making, designing ice skates, celebrating Kwanzaa, and more.
While at the Museum, visitors will have a chance to experience New York at Its Core, the popular, new, critically acclaimed, interactive exhibition that tells the story of all 400 years of New York City history, and other landmark exhibitions such as Beyond Suffrage: A Century of New York Women in Politics, Mod New York: Fashion Takes a Trip, and Art in the Open: Fifty Years of Public Art in New York.
Amy’s Bread recently opened at Chalsty’s Café at the Museum of the City of New York and as a special promotion, will be offering its special holiday hot chocolate free of charge to the first 100 guests each day during holidays at the Museum’s second floor eatery. Amy’s Bread makes homemade ganache with 70% dark chocolate & Valrhona cocoa powder whisked together with heavy cream, creating the perfect hot chocolate topped off with mini marshmallows.
