    ARCHITECTS FOR ANIMALS: GIVING SHELTER

    Thursday, January 30, 2014 – 6:00–8:00 pm

On Thursday, January 30, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals welcomes all New Yorkers to a unique exhibit and cocktail reception that combines the love of architecture with the love of animals. Nine architectural firms will unveil new winter shelters that they created for feral cats.

The architects worked for months to build highly designed yet practical structures that will keep cats safe and warm during the winter months. Following the exhibition, the shelters will be installed in pre-determined outdoor locations throughout New York City where colonies of community cats are cared for by certified caretakers.

These one-of-a-kind shelters will be on display at Architects for Animals Giving Shelter at the Steelcase Showroom located at 4 Columbus Circle. Guests will have the chance to vote on their favorite design. Following the exhibition, the shelters will be installed in feral cat colonies across New York City.

Among the architectural firms participating in this year’s exhibition are Carlton Architecture, deSoto studio Architects PC, Francis Cauffman, Incorporated, M Moser Associates, Two One Two Design, Zimmerman Workshop Architecture + Design, Bailly & Bailly and Elham Valipay and Haleh Atabaki, co founders of Mish Mish.
