(New York, NY) – Affordable Art Fair NYC is pleased to announce a full series of programming highlighting emerging talent and thoughtfully curated exhibitions on view this fall at the Metropolitan Pavilion from September 27 to 30, 2018. In addition to showcasing original contemporary art, featuring over 400 artists exhibited by 74 international and national galleries, Affordable Art Fair NYC’s curatorial programs encourage visitors to experience and engage with special artist presentations.
The Young Talent Exhibition is a dedicated platform that supports emerging artists and curators within the contemporary art community. This fall, Affordable Art Fair NYC will present a solo exhibition by New York-based and self-taught photographer, painter, and mixed-media artist Chase Hall, curated by Lolita Cros. A native Parisian, Cros has been making waves as an independent curator with her unorthodox venue choices and unique visual lens. She is currently curator and art consultant for The Wing co-working and community spaces designed for women.
“We are excited to be giving a platform to such a multifaceted and critical artist like Chase Hall,” says Vanessa Seis, Fall Fair Director, Affordable Art Fair NYC. “His work is extremely relevant in that it addresses the visual history of racial bigotry in the United States, and I hope that this exhibition will stimulate powerful conversation among our visitors.”
Affordable Art Fair NYC’s Limited Edition Print, a print series in collaboration with a commissioned artist made exclusively for the fall edition, will feature a collection of 10 limited edition artworks by London-based artist Adam Bridgland. The screen print with spray paint overlays is a love letter to the urban wilderness that is New York City, and a thematic continuation of a sculptural work Bridgland created earlier this year.
The Curatorial Excellence Award (FKA Best Booth Award) is a continued initiative presented by Affordable Art Fair NYC to highlight thoughtful and engaging gallery presentations. The award will be granted to an exhibition of curatorial distinction and the gallery will receive automatic acceptance into the following fall edition. The winner will be selected by a notable jury including Annelien Bruins, CEO of Tang Art Advisory, Wendy Goodman, Design Editor at New York Magazine and Design Hunting, Julia Halperin, Executive Editor at Artnet, and Melanie Kress, Associate Curator for High Line Art.
