New York Society for Ethical Culture presents A Concert for Earth Day, featuring the first public performance of Janet Emmons’ Requiem for Gaia’s Children!

The work combines the traditional Requiem Mass with poetry about climate change and the need for healing of the environment to bring about rebirth, and ultimately the recreation of the natural paradise that birthed all life, including our own.

This program also features Lili Boulanger’s Nocturne, Pastorales by Joseph Marx and George Crumb, and Debussy’s Jardins Sous la Pluie (Gardens in the Rain).

Performed by singers Stefanie Izzo, Caitlin Caruso Dobbs, Beth Mirahver, and Sarah Ittoop; pianist Nelson Ojeda Valdés; cellist David Newtown; and percussionists Sean Ferguson and Deirdre Towers.
