    Mendelssohn: Octet in E-flat Major, Op. 20

    92nd Street Y presents Orpheus Chamber Orchestra in a program featuring virtuosic pianist and pedagogue Louise Farrenc’s Nonet in E-flat Major, Op. 38, a work which earned her the leverage to collect a salary equal to that of her male colleagues at the Paris Conservatoire, and Mendelssohn’s Octet in E-flat Major, Op. 20, written when the composer was just 16 years old.
