Actor Bill Murray To Lead Hundreds On Poetic Pilgrimage Across The Brooklyn Bridge As Part Of Beloved NYC Tradition To Benefit Poets House

Hundreds of people are expected to join Poets House on June 12 to celebrate the 22nd Annual Poetry Walk Across the Brooklyn Bridge. This year’s featured poets, Billy Collins, Sharon Olds, Gregory Pardlo and Claudia Rankine, are joined by actor and poetry lover Bill Murray who will read New York City-inspired poems under the arches of the Bridge. A dinner at 26 Bridge, a historic foundry-turned-event space in DUMBO, will follow and feature additional poetry readings.

The Poetry Walk kicks off a year-long celebration of the 30th anniversary of Poets House, a 70,000-volume poetry library in Battery Park City that serves millions each year. An annual benefit, all proceeds from the Poetry Walk support the programs and services of Poets House. Tickets for the Poetry Walk and dinner begin at $250 ($225 for Poets House Members). Reservations are required. Click here for additional details or to purchase tickets.

Founded by two-time U.S. Poet Laureate Stanley Kunitz and legendary arts administrator Elizabeth Kray, Poets House serves as a home for all who read and write poetry. In 2009, Poets House moved into its permanent home at 10 River Terrace in Battery Park City on the banks of the Hudson River where, last year, 80,000 people walked through its doors, and more than five million were introduced to Poets House through its new website and national partnerships. 2017 marks the 30th Anniversary Celebration of this landmark institution.
