    2018 Astrocafé Science Series

    Popular After-Hours Lecture Series Will Highlight Moon Exploration in 2018

    The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, in association with the New York Space Alliance, will host its first AstroCafé event of the 2018 season beneath the iconic space shuttle Enterprise on Friday, April 20th at the Intrepid Museum located at Pier 86 (46th Street and 12th Avenue). Doors open 7:00 pm, event begins at 7:30 pm.

    AstroCafé is a free, curated adult lecture series offering visitors the opportunity to learn from entrepreneurs, visionaries and innovators in the space science world. The 2018 series, entitled AstroCafé: Next Giant Leap, will showcase individuals who are developing the technology, tools and systems that will get us back to the moon and beyond.

    The April 20th event will feature Michael Mealling, CEO of the Waypaver Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to addressing humanity’s greatest challenges by enabling sustainable lunar settlement. Mealling will discuss the collaborative effort among several organizations to determine the conditions needed to create an economically sustainable lunar settlement, build tools to help others analyze those conditions, and provide useful information to businesses and policy makers on costs, benefits, and time frames.

    AstroCafé is open to adults age 21 and over. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Admission is free, but space is limited and registration is required.
