three-time champion Nelson Dellis will defend his crown against Mental Athletes throughout the country. Nelson holds the American record in Speed Numbers, memorizing 310 random digits in five minutes, and he’s the record holder in Names & Faces, recognizing 193 names of people’s head shots.
The competition includes events such as memorization of two decks of shuffled cards and an unpublished poem with all its punctuation. The participants, dubbed Mental Athletes, include those from all ages and regions of the country.
