The 17th annual CUNY Jazz Festival returns this May featuring special concerts by Hammond B3 organ guru Dr. Lonnie Smith. The two-day festival, presented by City College Center for the Arts (CCCA) and the City College of New York Jazz Program, will showcase performances by the CCNY Jazz Orchestra and musicians from throughout the CUNY system, and free master classes presented by saxophonist Jon Gordon and vocalist René Marie. A highlight of the festival will be the Thursday, May 4th 7:30 concert featuring Dr. Lonnie Smith performing with the CCNY Large Jazz Ensemble and the closing night gala concert featuring the CCNY Student Jazz All-Stars followed by the Dr. Lonnie Smith Trio at 7:30 p.m. Jazz lovers are encouraged to come out for jam sessions, masters classes, and more!
