    16th Annual Blessing Of The Bicycles

    At The Cathedral Of St. John The Divine

    Saturday, May 3rd At 9:00 am

    Celebrate the start of the biking season with hundreds of other cyclists and have your bicycle blessedat the 16th annual Blessing of the Bicycles celebration on Saturday, May 3rd, 9:00 AM inside the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, located at 1047 Amsterdam Avenue (at 112th Street), Manhattan.   

    The Rev. Canon Julia E. Whitworth, Canon for Liturgy and the Arts at the Cathedral, will officiate. During the ceremony she will offer a blessing to kick off a safe cycling season and sprinkle holy water on the bicycles. After the blessing, a rider-less bicycle will be brought forward during a moment of silence in remembrance of those who died in cycling accidents during the past year. Everyone will then ring their bicycle bells in celebration of cycling.
