AUGUSTA, NJ — The Rock, Ribs & Ridges festival will celebrate its milestone 10th anniversary this summer by “having a party” with Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes co-headlining with Southern rock powerhouse 38 Special.
Presented by Franklin Sussex Auto Mall, the annual summer bash offers a great festival atmosphere with two days of great music and mouthwatering BBQ as legendary artists and top pitmasters from around the country heat up the outdoor concert season.
The festival experience includes great music, great food, craft beers; VIP shaded seating, meet-and-greet opportunities with the artists, group table seating, on-site camping and RV options with an exclusive bonus concert.
Southside Johnny isn’t the only one leading the party: two-time defending “Best Ribs” champion Alyson Lupinetti of Butch’s Smack Your Lips BBQ from Mt. Laurel, NJ is looking for a three-peat as champion of the grill; the 25-year-old became the first-ever female to win the title and last year swept the awards for both “Best Ribs” and “Best Sauce.”
Tickets for the June 29-30, 2019 festival at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, NJ are on sale now at www.rockribsandridges.com.
With a decades-long successful career, Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes continue to deliver their soul-searing brand of raucous blues and R&B, with material mined from their many albums, featuring hits like “I Don’t Want To Go Home,” “Love On The Wrong Side Of Town,” “The Fever,” “This Time It’s For Real,” “Talk To Me” and their definitive fun-time cover of “We’re Having A Party.”
Joining them on Sunday, June 30 are The Outlaws (“There Goes Another Love Song,” “Green Grass & High Tides,” “Ghost Riders of the Sky”), The Marshall Tucker Band. (“Heard It in a Love Song,” “Can’t You See”), and the Farmer Phil Band.
38 Special (“Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “If I’d Been the One,” and “Second Chance”) heads the lineup on Saturday, June 29, which also features Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Artimus Pyle (“Sweet Home Alabama,” “Freebird”, “Gimme Three Steps”), The Weight Band (“The Weight,” “Up On Cripple Creek,” “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down”), Blackfoot, and The Matt Coffy Band.
Rock, Ribs & Ridges attendees also have the rare opportunity to enjoy award-winning barbecue served up by the five pitmasters and competitive rib teams who will be competing in a juried rib cook-off for the coveted titles of “Best Ribs” and “Best Sauce” with fans voting for the Service Electric People’s Choice Award.
The menu is scheduled to include full and half racks of ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken, and delicious side dishes including cornbread and mac & cheese.
The competitive rib teams scheduled to compete and cook are Butch’s Smack Your Lips BBQ; Texas Smoke BBQ of Jefferson, NJ; Pigtails Barbecue Company (West Salem, OH); Cowboys BBQ & Rib Co. (Fort Worth, TX) and Smokin’ Joe’s Hog Wild BBQ (Olive Hill, KY).
