Hispanic Heritage Month begins each year on September 15, the anniversary of the independence of five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico, Chile, and Belize also celebrate their independence days during this month-long period.
Enjoy diverse music from Latin America and the Caribbean, watch inspirational movies, sample tasty appetizers, learn how to dance Cuban salsa, and more! Plus, the Archives at Queens Library, located at Central Library in Jamaica, will have a photo exhibit of the history of Hispanic culture in Queens County all month long.
