Monday, Sept 17

Headed down to the Financial District...then onto to Chinatown...then the Brooklyn Promenade

Brooklyn Bridge is quiet
Our Flag hangs from the Municipal Building
Chinatown is ominously quiet for a Monday early evening

Little Italy's San Gennaro Festival...maybe not this year...the restaurants are empty

From Canal Street you can get a glimpse of the rubble from the WTC

At Canal on the Western End, our vigils continue

and they continue on the Brooklyn Promenade

You can still see smoke along the NY skyline from the Promenade
The Brooklyn Bridge stands strong as ever

Saturday, Sept 15

Went down to Columbus Park...trains took us much farther this time...it was tricky getting into Chinatown...from there...we headed into the financial district...or close at least...

all is well at Columbus Park...the usual ball games continue
we followed the crowds to as close as we could get to the financial district

From Federal Plaza
a makeshift memorial at Federal Plaza

Many of us clapped as some of our heroes appeared and others guarded

Many of us clapped as some of our heroes appeared and others guarded

our heroes
in the distance you can still see smoke within the WTC complex area
a closeup shows the billowing smoke

Friday, Sept 14

Took a walk through Central Park before meeting my friend for Friday's Vigils

Central Park is just as gorgeous as ever...as if nothing had ever happened...how so many of us wish that were true
See Vigils Page for photos from this evening

Thursday, Sept 13

I went on down to 34th St since that was the farthest the trains would get me...from there I walked my usual trek through the city...some 10+ miles? Here's what I saw...

A worker holds up our Flag at 14th/7th where people aren't allowed through
Volunteers at the Salvation Army on 14th

Volunteers at the Salvation Army on 14th
The street in front of FIT is sectioned off due to a bomb scare
I finally get past below 14th, but the silence is eerie...no planes overhead...no cars

Standing on Houston St...you can see how thick with smoke the air is down below
A woman who'd just ridden up from SoHo...wears a mask as protection

An army of trucks stand waiting and ready on Houston St.
One of many yellow ribbons at Union Square Park
The Memorial Quilt is signed by many while students make collections...hundreds were there

Right it won't but,...
a young woman leaves her message
speaks for itself...
It was heart wrenching to be there...to leave my mark...but it was comforting to be amongst all my brothers and sisters who were hurting just as much as I was...Special thanks to the students of NYU!...and all others who've given of themselves...
