Time ending October 04 and the day of October 07th and 17th

and Nov 05th

Thousands venture on down to the area to see and gawk and take photos............
.....You know, it took me many days to put it together....we're all human...we've got this need deep down inside to be part of something great, or in this case.......something terrible......to somehow feel more than what the media's been feeding us....to be there, maybe to pay tribute or pay their respects......Maybe, maybe that's why so many thousands flock to the scene......I'm not sure...I don't have all the answers....

Our guys and gals are down here from all parts of the Country and the State...these two friendly gentleman (Military Police) were not only kind enough to share a word but kind enough to share their hand...I proudly shook 'em...let's all give 'em our support, huh?...proud to be Americans, proud to be New Yorkers! I love 'em all and so should you...how could one not feel protected with these guys around!

Got to hear from one these MP soldiers : I asked him how they were doing? His response: ...we're doin ok out there. Its startin' to get a little cold, but we're handlin' it pretty good. The support from the people is what keeps me goin' day 'n night. Thank you very much for your support in us. We appreciate it alot.

'had the pleasure of talking with and shaking the hands of some of our soldiers today...I'd suggest we all try and show them how much behind them we all are. Some from around the NYC area and some as far as Syracuse and further away. So when you see one of them in the streets, how about givin' them the thumbs up if you can't shake their hand.

Here's what remains of our Winter Garden at the
World Financial Center...sad but true
Although 5 WTC had been virtually destroyed,
the Borders Bookstore at ground level survived.

It was a treat to get back on the Brooklyn Bridge again..It'd been closed for awhile. 'walked half way across snapping pics and looking south along the East River, I noticed how there were people at the South St. Seaport, so I headed that way.
A state trooper checks incoming cars on the bridge for entry into the lower downtown area.

Our Flags are flying every where you turn within the Financial District. 'as are the memorials.

City Hall Park is closed to the public but the beautiful fountain continues on.
The Military presence is well felt. This Air Force Reservist was kind enough to tell me who exactly was down there helping out....his answer? "everyone's down here."

On my way down Wall Street, I noticed the Parks Police guarding our Federal National Museum, and other officers guarding the NYSE as well as the Federal Reserve Bank. I made it to South Street...aaaaahhh....that great sea air coming out of the East River was a treat. The Seaport District was pretty empty, yet boarding the Peking Ship for free to walk about and take photographs was a well welcomed treat...

The Military Force within the Financial District and Lower Manhattan is well felt. Battery Park is closed off as military facilities are established within.....'how can one not feel safe with this sort of safeguarding?
My hat goes off to our soldiers, policemen, firemen, rescue workers, martials, state troopers and our Mayor.

Our Flag flies high and mighty atop the Museum of the American Indian in Lower Manhattan
Grand Central Terminal - Geez, I wish I had that flag in my backyard!...wait!, I don't have a backyard!...and no, this isn't the only one...you'd have to have seen Grand Central before to appreciate the size of this Flag.......there are several throughout this locale....and within, are memorials for people to post correspondence, posters of lost loved ones and more....

Week ending Sept 24

Most of Lower Manhattan had opened to the public by now...100's of people walked up and down the Financial District's narrow streets looking for a better view of Ground Zero...it was a spooky and sad experience...I still look up from points here and then in Chinatown, Brooklyn and yes, even the Bronx...expecting to see the twins and yet they're never there...almost like when a lover leaves you or you've left them...'but to stand and finally see up close what's left............this is what's left of the ultimate expression of hatred and terror.

Our flag hangs over the NYSE
Trinity Church & St. Paul's Chapel stand strong...mind you, St Paul's is our oldest building in continous use (over 230 years old) and sits directly in front of 5 WTC

Say hello to some of our hard working reservists
Safe guarding one of the entrances to the WTC complex
Soldiers stand guard at the entrance to City Hall Park

At a storefront behind where once there was glass
What remains...
Ripped steel hangs from a building torn apart

What remains...

Seeing this is more chilling than the rubble itself
