| Ok, it's
ugly...awful ugly...gosh that thing is ugly. Makes you want
to say to your friend. "you really gonna cross that thang??
What is that thang??? "OK, seriously though, did you
know that before it went up in 1903, the Brooklyn Bridge was
the longest suspension bridge in the world? That is, until
this one came along with a whopping 7,308'...
Considered at the time as the world's strongest suspension bridge,
its 350 ft towers were the first to be made entirely of steel. 'Which,
well, let's face it, entirely of steel, can't be shinin' it all
year 'round can we, so that may explain the lack of charm and grace.
'In reality, the paint that's applied to it needs of course, to
be repainted.
In 1998, vehicular crossings were up to 110,000 on your average
weekday.
This structure located around the lower east side, stretches from
Delancey & Clinton Streets in Manhattan to Washington Plaza
in the borough of Brooklyn. Just below the bridge is East
River Park. Crossing the Bridge by foot is allowed and if it
weren't for the metal grid covering your view you'd get some pretty
nice photographs during your cross. Mind you, the bridge approaches
are awfully long, but it should prove to be a decent experience
on a nice day. Of course, nothing beats crossing the Brooklyn
Bridge!...Have Fun
