"Crossroads of the world" That's what they call it. Located at and around 7th - 8th avenues and Broadway between 40th and 52nd streets, this area was once the seediest part of the city. Now it's the glitzy-est thing around for a thousand miles. Heck! Not even Atlantic City can compare with this!

Today: Thanks to the great new renaissance this city's undergone the old seedy Times Square is long gone! Of course we can thank our Mayor Guiliani for it too! New stores, theaters and even street performers now line the streets. Take a look into that megasized Virgin Store where not only can you shop for music, but buy video and computer games as well as books and you can even see a movie within. There's also Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, the new 26 screen AMC theater, the Warner Brothers Store at One Times Square, the WWF restaurant at 43rd and 7th, Planet Hollywood Hotel at 57th & 8th (Gosh, they've got hotels now too????), Disney's revitalized New Amsterdam Theater and many more stores and theaters to see and visit. It's really a feast for the eyes.

Before: Times Square was once the seediest part of the city. Actually words cannot summon up the feeling the old Times Square instilled in a person. It was dirty, ugly, and yes, I'll say it, almost disgusting! Peep Shows, Porn Shops, and dirty old theater houses lined the streets. Thanks to alot of effort and a heck of alot of money, that's all gone. There are cops on almost every street corner and workers cleaning up the sidewalks on an almost constant basis.

It's estimated that over 1.5 million people pass through this area on your average day. 'And why not? Times Square is the site to visit first and/or last should you be new in town. With the billions of dollars poured and still being poured into its redevelopment, Times Square is just shining with Broadway hits such as the Lion King, Jekyll and Hyde, Les Miserables, Annie Get Your Gun and many more! Millions if not billions of neon lights shine upon the streets. It's a spectacle! There are some 227 restaurants, over 600 stores, and plenty of street performers. Some of the old theater houses are still there and a few even redone such as the New Amsterdam Theater. Come and check it out! It's a must see NY attraction!
