Tony Nominated Star To Deliver A Musical Love Letter To Lower Manhattan With Free Valentine’s Day Concert
Presented by Arts Brookfield at World Financial Center Monday, February 13, 2012 at 7:30 pm
Tony nominated songwriter and performer Bob Stillman to perform love songs by Gershwin, Laura Nyro, Rodgers & Hart, Steve Wonder and Magnetic Fields
Tony Award-nominated performer and composer Bob Stillman (Grey Gardens, Dirty Blonde) will explore love’s trials and tribulations through songs by an eclectic mix of artists ranging from the Magnetic Fields to Rodgers & Hart at a free Valentine’s concert at the World Financial Center Winter Garden on Monday, February 13th.
It Could Happen To You will showcase an inspired and unconventional mix of original songs, contemporary gems, and classics that ponder love and loss, including Laura Nyro’s “I Never Meant To Hurt You”, the Magnetic Fields’ “Book of Love”, Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You” and Rodgers & Hart’s “My Romance.”
“It Could Happen To You is a celebration of love in all its confusing, redeeming glory,” said Debra Simon, V.P. & artistic director of Arts Brookfield. “This evening of wonderful music will appeal to the romantic in all of us.”
Stillman will be joined for It Could Happen To You by singers Rachel Bay Jones, Martha Redbone, and Bryce Ryness, as well as musicians Sean Harkness (guitar), Danny Weller (bass) and Tim McLafferty (drums).
A renowned actor, pianist and songwriter, Stillman received his first Tony Award nomination for “Best Featured Actor in a Play” for his turn as pianist in 2000’s Dirty Blonde, and was later nominated for “Best Original Score” for his work on 2003’s Urban Cowboy. He has also been praised for his scene-stealing turns in 1994’s Kiss of the Spider Woman, 2006’s Grey Gardens, and 1997’s The Last Session.
It Could Happen To You: A Valentine’s Day Celebration with Bob Stillman is conceived and produced for Arts Brookfield by Ligeti Artists LLC and TheShowStore.com.
