Taste Of Times Square” The Times Square Alliance announces the return of Taste of Times Square – an outdoor food and music festival – featuring flavors from the district’s top restaurants and the city’s best street performers at the Crossroads of the World. Forty of Times Square’s most popular culinary destinations will set up tables on the street to offer “tastes” starting at $1 on Monday, June 6 from 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. on the Broadway Plazas between 42nd and 47th Street in Times Square. “We invite all New Yorkers and visitors to bring their appetite and celebrate summer with us at the Taste of Times Square,” said Tim Tompkins, president of the Times Square Alliance. “We are thrilled to showcase the variety of delicious cuisine in Times Square, along with many of our city’s favorite street musicians.” This year’s approximately 40 participating restaurants include: Angus McIndoe, B.B King Blues Club & Grill, B. Smith’s, Becco, Blue Fin, Brasserie 1605, Cafe Un Deux Trois, Carmine’s, Dervish Restaurant, Gallagher’s Steak House, Hard Rock Cafe, Havana Central, Junior’s Restaurant, Palm West Restaurant, Pomaire, R Lounge at Two Times Square, Ruby Foo’s, Shula’s American Steak House, St. Andrews Restaurant, The Counter, The Long Room, Toloache, Virgil’s Real Barbecue, and more. Highlighted street musicians include: the Drum Cafe -- an interactive African drumming circle, Mariachi Real De Mexico, Colin Huggins’ Dueling Tappers, the Jazz Collective, Moses Josiah playing his musical saw, Paul Mueller with a hammered dulcimer, Espiritu Andino showcasing Inca music, Ebony Hillbillies performing bluegrass, and Irving Louis Lattin jamming on a blues guitar. The food and music festival has no admission fee. Each “taste” ticket is $1 with most dishes ranging from $1-$5. Tickets will be available for purchase on the day of event and in advance at the Times Square Visitor Center and Mini-Museum on 7th Ave. between 46th and 47th Streets. New this year, Hard Rock Cafe is celebrating its 40th Anniversary by collecting donations and selling “tastes” tickets in an effort to feed 40,000 hungry New Yorkers. Hard Rock has partnered with the Times Square Alliance and the Food Bank for New York City who can feed a family of 5 for just $1.00.
